Comrade Gives Gamers Desktop Access
GameSpy is pleased to announce the release of our new Community tool - GameSpy Comrade.
Comrade uses the GameSpy Presence and Messaging SDK to:
- provide gamers access to their friends whether in-game or out
- follow friends directly into games
- instant message friends currently playing games from their desktop
Comrade functions seamlessly with any game that has used or will use the Presence and Messaging SDK, regardless of platform. Previously built buddy-lists will integrate immediately and be instantly available to gamers on the desktop.
Gamers can see their friends online, get notifications when they join games and message back and forth with them - all from the desktop - regardless of platform. Similarly, a PC or console user currently in-game can invite buddies online - but not playing - to join in their game.
Advantages for Developers:- Titles that have used the Presence and Messaging SDK on any previous platform supported by GameSpy will have the immediate benefit of being integrated with Comrade.
- The Comrade "Ambassador" program allows community managers to directly access their community.
- Comrade supports "skinning." Titles can gain significant exposure via popular skins, pre- or post-product launch.
- Patches, updates, expansion packs and upcoming products can be announced directly to your customers.
- Clans, teams and friends and buddy-lists are seamlessly connected whenever the computer or console is powered on
- Gamers can directly follow their friends into a title.
- Direct challenges can be issued on game ladders.
- Profiles listings on GameSpy Arena are directly accessible.
- Installed games can be immediately launched from Comrade.
